I. Chisom Unegbu came to the United States from Nigeria with her parents in 1981. She was two years old at the time. She has a bachelor's degree in Communication from The University of Texas at Arlington, and a master's degree in Human Resource Development from The University of Texas at Tyler.

She currently works in higher education as a college professor for student success and development. She is also founder and CEO of Premier Word and Voice Exchange (PWAVE), a Texas based motivational, corporate training and communications company and Franchise Partner with Unicity International, a U.S. based health company whose flagship product is Bios Life Slim. Chisom has worked in radio. She worked for 89.5 FM KVNE in East Texas for two years, and also had a working internship with Radio Disney.  She's previously hosted her own internet radio show, Plan B with Chisom for NaijaRadio234. Chisom has also authored two books, When All the Locusts Had Eaten and Blood for Ink: A Collection of Poems by a Nigerian-American. Chisom also enjoys vlogging on natural hair and health. She currently resides in Texas with her husband, Robert and their daughters, Naomi and Abigail. She lives by the motto, "Feed your faith and your fears will starve."
